SYSTEMS

Bilge: Electric Attwood 500gph bilge pump using (2) Sony Lithium-ion camcorder batteries, waterproof switch, all mounted in a Seahorse case (like a Pelican dry case). Recharging of batteries from solar charging system
Manual bilge Pump, modified Whale bilge pump so can be used by foot pumping while in cockpit.

Solar Charging System: 1 or 2 10watt Powerfilm flexible solar panels, modified (weather/waterproofed) for the expedition. SunSaver charge controller, with Energizer rechargeable pack inside Seahorse case. Power outlet from inverter inside case to charge laptop while paddling or resting.

Satellite Tracking: Satamatics SAT101A terminal, modified (waterproofed) Inmarsat D+ antenna with GPS. Gives position within 12 feet, nearly real-time to website (3-5 min lag on average).

Safety: Sea Drogue in case - bridle attached for instant use. NRS Tow line installed front, cockpit tether, bow/stern 10' painters, spare paddle, PLB (Personal Locator Beacon), flares, whistle, helmet.

Navigation: Garmin 76CSX Mapping GPS mounted near cockpit front. Forward mounted compass. iPAQ PDA in Combat Case with Maptech Pocket Navigator as backup. Panasonic Toughbook CF-18 w/Maptech Navigator for on-shore planning/evaluation.

Shark deterrent system: Hull painted with custom shark-deterrent pattern.

Storage: Custom dry bags, cases. Dry bags by Outdoor Research. Dry cases and pacs from Fuerte Cases.
